The Gujjars are a tribe that came to India in the 5th century. 

The archaeological finds of this area - such as Lothal, Dholavira, and Rangpur belong to the Indus Valley Civilization period. Since then, this state was ruled by many powerful empires like Maurya, Khilji and other Muslim rulers and Marathas till the arrival of the British. Most of the people here speak Gujarati. Hindi, Urdu, Sindhi and English are also spoken in Gujarat. The weather in Gujarat is moderate throughout the year.

Somnath Dham/Temple 

One of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva is located in the Saurashtra region of Gujrat. It is the oldest and first Jyotirlinga in the country. Do you know what the history and importance of 12 are, Jyotirlinga? Why does everyone love to visit these temples? It is believed that Jyotirlinga is that sacred place of India where lord Shiva lived in different forms. Jyoti means light or radiant, and linga means sign. So the word Jyotirlinga means the radiant signs of Lord shiva. 

Somnath in Gujrat is the first Jyotirlinga. It is all made of gold, which is why it is alluring. The chalky architecture is designed with gold. This temple was demolished 17 times. It was rebuilt in 1947 by the son of Gujrat- Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. You can see his statue even today outside the temple. The best part of Somnath temple is its location; one side is the temple, and the other is the uninterrupted ocean view. 

This ocean is the tributary of 3 holy rivers- Hirane, Kapila and Saraswati. This ocean is also known by the name Triveni Sangam. Along with this, there is a museum where you can visit and glance at the many artefacts related to the temple. There is also a beach where you can do camel riding.

Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad, the world's first heritage city, is famous for its traditions, delicacies and tourism. It is the largest city in Gujarat, whether it is the historical monuments or colourful markets, the world's largest stadium or Sabarmati Ashram that takes you through the life journey of Mahatma Gandhi. 

In Ahmedabad, you can visit the Jama Masjid, one of the old masjids. Here you can admire the intricate architecture and learn about the mosque's history. Along with this, you can also visit Siddi Saiyyed mosque, which is known for its beautiful stone latticework. Do not miss the famous "Tree of life" carving on one of the windows. 

Consequently, move forward to Adalaj's beautiful five-story step well. Gujarati food is also world famous and too good. You can savour the famous Jalebi Fafda with delicious thali at Chandravilas restaurant. 

After indulging in the most delectable delicacies, the next tourist destination that you must visit is Kankaria lake, which is a popular recreational spot. The flare of the local markets in Ahmedabad is unmatched. Manek chowk is a bustling night market where you can shop for souvenirs and sample delicious food. 

Gir National Park

Gir national park, located in the western state of Gujarat, is famous for its Asiatic lions. The park offers jeep safaris that can be booked in advance or at the park gate. The safaris typically last for 3-4 hours and cover the prime areas of the park where lions and other wildlife are found. 

Apart from lions, the park is also home to various other animals, including leopards, deer, antelopes, and crocodiles. The diverse bird population in the park is another highlight. 

In addition to wildlife viewing, visitors can also visit the nearby crocodile breeding farm and the Devalia safari park, which offers a bus tour of the park.
